In 2020, the Mondadori Group recorded revenues of 744 million euro. Our activities in the publishing segment range from the creation of products to their marketing and distribution.
In the books sector, we operate through Mondadori Libri S.p.A., a subsidiary which has absorbed the range of book publishing activities over the last three
years, with a view to strengthening and developing the segment. The two different divisions have been maintained in the new company:
- Trade, which publishes novels and essays under the brands Mondadori, Giulio Einaudi editore, Piemme, Sperling & Kupfer, Frassinelli, Rizzoli, BUR, Fabbri Editori and Rizzoli Lizard;
- Educational, through Mondadori Education and Rizzoli Education, in the school textbooks segment where it owns a total catalogue of approximately 30 proprietary and distributed brands, with production spanning from preschool to university.
Complementing the book publishing activities are those revolving around art books, the management of museum concessions and the organization of exhibitions and cultural events, managed in Italy by Electa S.p.A. (under the brands Electa and Abscondita, a Milanese publishing house acquired in December 2019) and internationally by Rizzoli International Publications (under Rizzoli, Rizzoli New York, Rizzoli Electa and Universe).
Activities involving a direct relationship with consumers are managed by subsidiary Mondadori Retail S.p.A., through a network of over 550 stores (directly managed and in franchising) and the e-commerce site mondadoristore.it.
Thanks to its consolidated leadership in the women & lifestyle, food, health & wellness verticals, in 2020 the Mondadori Group retained its position as one of the leaders in the segment and the top multimedia publisher in digital and social media: a portfolio of brands with 21 print magazines and 14 digital properties.
