The area is managed through Mondadori Libri S.p.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary which absorbed all of the book publishing activities.
With a 24.8% share, the Group leads the Trade market, which includes: fiction, non-fiction and children’s book in which it publishes, in both traditional and digital formats, under the following brands: Mondadori, Giulio Einaudi editore, Piemme, Sperling & Kupfer, Frassinelli, Rizzoli, BUR, Fabbri Editor and Rizzoli Lizard.

The Group also operates, through Mondadori Education and Rizzoli Education, in the school textbooks segment where it holds, with a 22.1% market share at end 2020, a leadership position and owns a total catalogue of approximately 30 proprietary and distributed brands, with production spanning from preschool to university.

Complementing the book publishing activities are those revolving around art books, the management of museum concessions and the organization of exhibitions and cultural events, managed in Italy by Electa S.p.A. (under the brands Electa and Abscondita, a Milanese publishing house acquired in December 2019) and internationally by Rizzoli International Publications (under Rizzoli, Rizzoli New York, Rizzoli Electa and Universe).

Revenue from the sale of e-books and audiobooks, which accounted for 7.8% of total publishing revenue in 2020, rose sharply (+27.1%), driven by the lockdown period (March-May) which curtailed operations of the physical channel.
