Agatha Miller, universally known as Agatha Christie, the undisputed queen of the mystery novel, was born 120 years ago in Torquay, England. Oscar Mondadori celebrates this event with a series of special publications.

Celebratory editions dedicated to two of the author’s greatest characters, Poirot and Miss Marple, are already available in bookstores. The volume dedicated to the Belgian investigator, Le grandi indagini di Poirot (The Great Investigations of Poirot), includes three exciting adventures: Assassinio sull’Orient-Express (Murder on the Orient Express), Poirot sul Nilo (Death on the Nile) and Corpi al sole (Evil Under the Sun). In the volume dedicated to Miss Marple, readers can find three celebrated investigations of the sprightly elderly woman with the tremendous intuition: C’è un cadavere in biblioteca (The Body in the Library), A Murder is Announced (Un delitto avrà luogo) and Polvere negli occhi (A Pocket Full of Rye).

But Agatha Christie did not write only mysteries. Under the pseudonym Mary Westmacott she also wrote a series of romance novels. On the occasion of the writer’s 120th anniversary, Oscar Mondadori is releasing Il deserto del cuore (Absent in the Spring) and Ritratto incompiuto (Unfinished Portrait). And on 31 August I quaderni segreti (Agatha Christie’s Secret Notebooks: Fifty Years of Mysteries in the Making), will be released.

This volume gathers mostly unpublished material from 73 of the writer’s notebooks including notes, sketches and two never-published Poirot stories. This volume is an exciting behind the scenes look at Agatha Christie’s work as a writer and is also a unique occasion to enter her ingenious head.
